Poni
By now, most of you have come to know the collage cards of our artist, Poni (Mosier), with wonderful papers, colorful ribbons and adornments. Her messages are always apt.
Poni has been creating for as long as she can remember—drawing, painting, collecting beads, paper, natural stuff, charms, and anything else that caught her fancy. She watercolors, does woodworking, makes jewelry, and, of course, her cards. She loves beautiful, well-designed objects, as well as color and what you can do with it and how it can make you feel. Poni loves words, their meanings, and writing in such a way as to put emotion into words.
In 1963, Poni’s parents opened a gift shop in a small Northern California town and began to import wonderful things from all over the world. Poni worked in the store until she graduated from college and started teaching art. She taught for 8 years.
She began working in her parents’ shop again in the spring of 1985, when her parents needed someone to watch their house and manage the store. They left to rejoin the Carson and Barnes Circus for the 1985/1986 season. Eventually they did return to relieve Poni.
Poni joined us in 1991 and has been with us ever since.
She continued to work with her Mom until she sadly passed away in 2006.
Poni learned from the very best and feels having a retail background gives her perspective for her art—what the retailers need, want, and expect. She thinks they need consistency, want whatever is new, and expect perfection. She sees it as a “piece of cake,” just keep making new designs, do it with style and panache, and ship accurately and on time.
We know that many of you have come to love Poni and her work, just as we do.
