Lois Isenberg

We get to know most of our artists during the tenure with us. We talk a lot to all of them and meet most of them along the way. Some become personal friends. We would say Lois Isenberg has become a close personal friend since she first came aboard in April of 1990.

Sadly, Lois lost her beloved husband, Stan, a couple of years ago and we all miss him dearly. He was a true gentle man and an extraordinary human being. Stan was known for his natty attire and one of our prized possessions is one of his hats that Lois gave us. We have also come to know and love their children, David and Judy.

Lois and her loyal dog, Riley, live in an artfully adorned (of course) contemporary house overlooking the ocean in southern California. One thing for sure, she is one of the most generous and thoughtful gift-givers we have ever known. Her gifts can take your breath away.

Lois studied at Parsons School of Design in New York. Her fiber arts accomplishments have included making her own paper on which she would place objects like various inks, findings, paint and miscellaneous materials. She was an avid weaver and taught weaving classes. Lois was also a natural born knitter, designing her own patterns. In addition, she discovered the art of quilting along the way. More recently, she studied doll making. Because of that experience, she then decided that she needed to know more about jewelry and beading, so she is now passionately pursuing those areas. All of these mediums combined are reflected in the thematic collage cards for which she has become known. Many of the miniature musical instrument cards that she makes have been very popular lately, so much so that she can hardly keep up with the demand.

Stan and Lois had roots in the Dallas area where they lived and worked for many years, before moving to California. Lois has always been involved in her local communities, especially in their cultural and art-related activities, where she has volunteered countless hours of her time. She has had a lifetime of commitment to the arts.
