Jillian Fields
Jillian Fields is one of
our new young stars. We have seen enough already to
feel comfortable in designating her as such (without
jinxing her). For her part, Jillian feels card-making
has allowed her to mix her passion with her
professional experience. With the support of her
family, her boyfriend, and her “best friend” and
resilient dog, Oreo, she feels she was able to make a
career change to something she loves. She realizes
that not everyone gets to pursue their dreams as she
has.
Jillian worked in the fashion industry for four and a
half years before discovering this opportunity to
design and hand make artcards. She finds being able
to see things through from concept to completion to
be extremely fulfilling. At the same time, her
experience in production helped her understand how
important it is to not only have great designs that
people will love, but to also be able to ship
accurately and on time.
Her studio is based just outside of New York City
and, as a consequence, we have the good fortune of
being able to see her once in awhile when she drops
off new designs and/or orders.
Jillian attended Saunders Trades and Technical
School, where she studied Fashion Design. Upon
graduation from high school, she knew she had the
talent to design and create garments, she should
learn the business aspect of the industry. Attending
LIM College in New York City for Fashion
Merchandising further expanded her horizons. It was
while researching a project that she came across a
large retailer specializing in exotic paper and
stationery. From that point on, she was hooked on
finding a way to use that kind of paper. What started
as a hobby for her has now become something much
more: a passion and a career.
